Line Side Management

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group
(Redirected from LSM)

The Line Side Management (LSM) section is part of the Infrastructure Department and is managed by Martin Duncan. It is responsible for managing vegetation on the operating railway, embankments, around stations and in depots. This can include tree surgery, brush clearance and herbicide spraying. This work was originally carried out by the Permanent Way gang, passing to the S & T department in the 1990s before becoming a separate section of the Infrastructure Department in 2010.

The work is carried out by FR Co. staff and a wide variety of volunteers, including the JASPER (Joint Assosciation of Signal Pole Erectors and Renovators) Group, WHR Tuesday Gang and the FR LSM group.
