On this date James Spooner died. He had been secretary/clerk to the company since 1844, and its engineer since 1847. There is a stained glass window dedicated to him in St John's Church, Porthmadog
Following this, Charles Easton Spooner, his son, who had been treasurer since 1847, resigned that post and succeeded to the Clerk and Engineer posts[1]
