Day Log/1872-03-25
On this day, Colonel Frederick H. Rich from the Railway Inspectorate visited the railway for the first of many visits.
This was in relation to bringing Minffordd station into use for passengers. The company had erected a temporary ticket office on the western platform, with a view to constructing a permanent building. This meant that intending passengers had to cross what was termed the mineral line into Minffordd Yard. In fact to purchase a ticket, a passenger had to cross the two lines, buy ticket, then cross the two lines again. This was unsuitable, and Rich request the plan be changed before approving the station for public use. He was surprised as he expected the interchange with the Cambrian Railway to be built. There were also some alteration to the trackwork and signalling required.[1]
