Day Log/1897-08-02
On this day, a goods truck, through its load shifting, overbalanced and left the rails between Penrhyn and Tan y Bwlch.
15 empty wagons behind the affected truck left rails as well. The front part of the passenger train, and some trucks did not leave rails, but were disconnected through the coupling of the goods truck braking.[1]
It is believed that a picture of the resultant wreckage survives.[2]
