Ernest John (Jack) Spooner
Son of James Douglas Spooner and grandson of James Swinton Spooner.
Born 1887 died 1942. Married Megan G Foster b 1898.
Rear Admiral Ernest John (Jack) Spooner, DSO, and Captain of HMS Vindictive in 1937, of Repulse 1938-41 and In Charge Naval Establishments, Singapore 1941[1]. He escaped with others at the fall of Singapore in a launch, hoping to rendezvous with a cruiser, but it broke down and the party were marooned on Tjiba Island off Sumatra. With most of the elder men, he died of fever and malnutrition.
