Active with the erstwhile Leicester Group in the 1970s and 1980s, John died, 24th August 2011 He used to travel as a representative selling tea. He was indeed well known for his vintage former 1950's Ford Anglia Tea Van, which he drove to the many Traction Engine Rallies in the Leicester area loaded with FR souvenirs, thus enabling what was a relatively small local Group to contribute to FR funds.
