Julian Harrison
Julian Harrison joined the company in mid February 2010 and was Head of Infrastructure (initially Head of External Engineering). His background was with the MOD and related suppliers where he had amassed considerable engineering experience. He is a chartered engineer and is more than familiar with the safety standards procedures expected on the railway. He has also spent time working as a volunteer with the Mid-Hants railway in their workshops and so understands the heritage railway scene and the importance of volunteer input.
Reporting to the General Manager, the role of Head of Infrastructure encompasses much of the role vacated by the retirement of Fred Howes but additionally has responsibility for all our civil structures, S & T, Lineside maintenance, Buildings, Electrical and estates in addition to the Permanent Way on both the FR & WHR.
The departure of Julian Harrison, Head of the Infrastructure Department was announced in FR Magazine in Winter 2012/13. He left reluctantly for family reasons.[1]
