Samuel Holland Senior, was a Liverpool merchant who in 1819 leased a quarrying site at Rhiwbryfdir. His son, Samuel Holland Jnr., managed this site from about 1821 onwards. It would seem that Senior also invested in other quarries, selling one for £28,000 in 1825.[1]
