K1 was the world's first Garratt locomotive. It was built by Beyer Peacock for the North East Dundas Tramway in Tasmania, Australia. It was later acquired by the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. It has recently re-entered service after an overhaul at the Statfold Barn Railway, where it is seen in the photograph.
