Tunnel North is the name given to the northern end of the Moelwyn Tunnel. It was the construction site of a cutting on the Deviation. Work started here in January 1972 with ground clearance by the FR's excavator, followed by blasting of rock by a contractor in July, then rock clearance by volunteers.
