There have been two organisations using the name Welsh Highland Railway Society.
- The original group responsible for creating Gelert's Farm Works, later to become what is now known as the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway or WHR Ltd.
- Cymdeithas Rheilffordd Eryri is the supporters organisation for the current Welsh Highland Railway. It mainly uses the Welsh language name but is known as the Welsh Highland Railway Society in English
