William C. Evans (1860)

William C. Evans was born in Forden Montgomeryshire in July 1859. His was a common name so it is possible two or more people have become muddled. However, by the 1881 census he was lodging in Porthmadog and an engine cleaner. He married in 1884 and his first three children were born in Porthmadog. He then moved to Kerry in Powys in the late 1880s.The 1891 census has him as a driver whilst there. He must have returned to Porthmadog in the late 1890s, the first instance of him being recorded as an engine driver is in 1898. A 1927 list of personnel says he had 29 years with the FRCo at that date. He continued as a driver until paid off in October 1928
