Referring to the on-going discussion regarding charge for slate traffic.

On this day, the parties with an interest in the harbour had met: Roche of the Tremadog Estate, beneficial owner of the harbour; Prichard of the Portmadoc Steam Tug Company; John Conacher of the Cambrian, with C.E. Spooner and Hughes for the FR Co., the latter probably as note-taker. Based on the average of the last three years the reductions proposed earlier were £704 by the FR Co. and £386 by the Tremadog Estate, a total of £1,090 per annum. Roche proposed that this should be borne four-fifths by the FR and one-fifth by him, meaning an additional cost for the FR of £168. For the Steam Tug Company, Prichard said that it was prepared to reduce its rates in a range of 20% to 50% provided other port charges were reduced as well[1].

The part played by the ship owners in the price of slate delivered is never mentioned, presumably because the other parties thought their charges reasonable.
