Son of (and not to be confused with) Thomas Henry Hovendon, born 1880. He returned from Canada on two occasions in the 1960s and spent much time travelling on the trains preferring nostalgic journeys in the guard's van to the comfort of ordinary compartments while he regaled the guards with stories of his boyhood at Coed-y-Bleiddiau and the way shopping was delivered to the cottage by the guard.
