Hugh Roberts (II)

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

Hugh Roberts, Sawyer.

Born 1857 in Portmadoc. In 1881 was living at Gwillim Terrace, Penrhyn, with his widowed mother and siblings. His mother must have been widowed twice as she had a different surname, as did one of her daughters.

He was a Labourer in Iron Works, maybe FR, maybe not. In 1891 at Tanybank, Nazareth Terrace) he was still a General Labourer but by 1901 he was a Sawyer, still at Nazareth Terrace as he was in 1911, living with his sister.

NUR records show he joined the union in 1915.

Hugh Roberts (II) is possibly the person in the photo known as Boyd26H. (click here to see) This photo is labelled "A Group taken in the Works Yard before the First War". It is believed to be around 1913. It is not all staff from the yard at that time. There was a list attached to the original which declares who the people are. This person is believed to be in the third row from the back and the ninth person from the left handside.
