Ian Whitley joined the Welsh Highland Railway (Porthmadog) as a volunteer trainee guard in 2004. Ian went on to manage the newly formed gardens department. The railway won the second prize at the Wales in Bloom awards for 2006 and 2007 attaining the first prize in 2008.
