Peter Wood was an active member and Vice-Chairman of the FR Society's London Area Group (LAG), producing its regular newsletter "Link" for a 120 issues from 1968 to 1998, and was also a member of the Heritage Group. He died in April 2004 and left some generous bequsts to heritage railways. The LAG was one of the beneficaries and some of the money went towards the Mark 2 Quarrymen's Carriage project.[1] He also left money to the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway, who used it to purchase and refurbish the 4-wheel diesel-hydraulic Hunslet locomotive (9347 of 1994) which bears his name. Used on the construction of ther Jubilee Line Extension this was one of the last locomotives to be built at Jack Lane works, the birthplace of the many Hunslets built for the North Wales slate industry.
