Talk:49-85 Minffordd Yard

What about moving this excellent initiative to "Minffordd Yard buildings" or something like that? I don't think these numbers are exactly general knowledge. --IP (talk) 12:32, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- No, I would like to keep the numbers as they appear on the Ffestiniog Building Register that I will be 'copying' and adding photos to over the next few months as my voluntary work for the Anthony Brierley's Estates and Buildings Group . By using Festipedia for this information we make it available to all those who need to access it; by using this, the information is available and visible to all rather than trying to keep a spreadsheet up to date that is only available to 'the select few.'
- So far during this exercise (I only started it on Monday!) Building 50 has been called 'PW Manger's Office,' 'Commercial Department Store,' 'The Old Weigh House' and finally 'Minffordd Weigh House. I expect it's name could change in the future but it will always be Building 50!
- PS The Photos might be useful to any railway modelers who view these pages.

- My point is exactly that the information will by and large remain for the select few when the articles have titles that nobody knows. Especially when you don't make any redirects from the names that are actually used.
- This is an encyclopedia, where anyone should readily find what he or she looks for if it's there, not a register for people who are used to botanising by register numbers even if it means they have to skim through them all. There is also the standardisation (predictability) aspect. Other buildings in this wiki are identified by what they are called, not by register numbers.
- As for "Minffordd Yard buildings", I can't see how that name would become obsolete. "Northern Porthmadog Yard buildings"? --IP (talk) 19:51, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- And as for several names: for one thing, not all are always as well known or important, for another: that's what redirects are for. They can also be made from number titles (even if I doubt those redirects will be the most used). --IP (talk) 20:03, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Battery Store
This list seems to be missing the Battery Store built in 1997 for the FR signalling and telephones. It is located between FR Minfford Yard and the National Rail station by the bridge carrying the FR mainline over the standard gauge. It shows a serious intention to construct something in keeping visually.MarkTemple (talk) 12:37, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Was it not built as a relay room as the first stage of returning the booking office to its original use? Heritagejim (talk) 08:11, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
