There is some controversy over what should or should not be allowed to be written especially over how the machine should be used. The offending portion has now been removed - but should it have been so? I felt the comments had some worth but derogatory terms were used to describe FR staff. I was prepared to allow the comments to stand if the description of staff was removed. Heritagejim (talk) 14:17, 1 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'd probably leave it at something like "there is some controversy on the correct method of usage". The SPaG will need tidying up at some point; I'll put it on my to-do list at some point. RedDragon (Send me a telegram) 14:53, 1 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
The new contributions from the anonymous user certainly need tidying up. Punctuation and grammar need to be improved, and comments such as "From my position 10,647 miles away (according to the internet)" have no place in an encyclopaedic article. Similarly the stuff in the first person and the "I was made redundant" comment. Anything derogatory about current FR staff (or, indeed, any living person) must be removed so I agree with Jim's removal of the offending comments. Something like RedDragon's suggestion would be fine. --Peter Harrison (talk) 10:47, 2 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have a couple of objections to this whole edit. First is that from its location appears that it is part of the description supplied by Chris Hosking and I don't think it is (it would be worth asking directly). Second that the anonymous nature of the edit is disingenuous with the nature of the personal statements made. As I have said before I am strongly of the opinion that we should not allow anonymous edits. Edward Harris (talk) 15:00, 2 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Edward for your contribution. It is useful to have an opinion from someone who knows the situation better. I will have a read through all the various texts later and write something appropriate Heritagejim (talk) 18:23, 2 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have tried my best to tidy it up but some parts are difficult to understand. As always anyone can make further changesHeritagejim (talk) 20:33, 2 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The anonymous user has again made derogatory remarks. I have removed the offending paragraph and warned them that any repeat will result in them being banned. They may have a useful contribution to make and some of the text that is left may be useful if edited. But this kind of behaviour will not be ttolerated. I will lock the page so that anonymous editors cannot edit it. --Peter Harrison (talk) 00:06, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
