Bill (W.B.) Bellamy was Secretary of the FR Co. from 1956, and a Director until 1961. After serving in the Black Watch in the 1st World War and being wounded, he was appointed R.T.O., Kingsbridge, Dublin, and at one time commanded an armoured train. During the 2nd World War he served in the Royal Engineers (Movement Control). He was a chartered accountant and his cautious common sense was said to keep feet on the ground in the FR revival's early days. He is reported to have coined the phrase Festiniog lente (Festiniog slowly) as a salutary foil to exuberant over-enthusiasm. The 1961 Spring FR Magazine reported that due to ill-health he retired from his professional practice and the FR Board. [1][2]
