Carriage 119 is an all-third saloon carriage in the Super Barn series.

Background[edit]

Carriage 119 was built with the assistance of a very generous bequest from the late Margaret Richie, and a fund raised in her memory, and entered service on September 18, 2014 on a special train for Margaret's friends and family. At Dduallt her ashes were scattered, and the carriage dedicated by the former Bishop of Carlisle, Graham Dow.[1]

Unlike the previous Super Barns, with their alternating large and small windows, this one has windows the full width of the seating bays, as on the latest WHR Carriage 2046. It replaced a steel-bodied carriage with the same number.

Initially allocated to C-Set, 119 was later allocated to the new B-Set along with the very similar 117 and the new observation/Service Car pair of 150 and 125.
