Chuquitanta is an 0-4-0 locomotive was built by Couillet, a Belgian locomotive manufacturer, in 1885. It was supplied to Enrique Ayulo & Cie for the Rodriguez sugar cane plantation. The loco was named ‘Chuquitanta’ due to its small size and weight of only 3.5 tonnes. It was brought to the UK from Peru for full restoration in 2004 and returned to steam in 2016. ‘Chuquitanta’ is now based on the Richmond Light Railway in Kent.
Chuquitanta has visited the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways twice once for Quirks & Curiosities II in 2017 and visited again for the Victorian Weekend in 2019.
As seen at Beddgelert on Saturday 20th April 2024 it also seems to now have a tender, with coal stored under the seats.
